“That logo right there” doesn’t need to be involved at all. Thats the part Mr. Henry is missing. They (Nashville Predators) haven’t been involved until this point (financially or physically) and Centennial and the NYHL has been fine operating on our/their terms. You want to provide a “facelift” for Centennial? Be my guest. You CHOSE to build your rinks in places the Nashville Predators had no interest in traveling as part of the NHL facility. Don’t take something away from the community because of your short sightedness.

This is why I am deeply concerned about the proposal allowing the Nashville Predators to manage Centennial Sportsplex in a manner similar to the Ford Ice rinks. Under this proposal, the Nashville Predators would gain control over nearly all ice activities and facilities in the Nashville area, from youth and adult hockey to figure skating, creating a near monopoly. Such consolidation could have serious consequences for a wide range of programs, including youth hockey, adult leagues, figure skating, and essential grassroots initiatives that depend on fair access and affordable ice time. The Centennial Sportsplex is not at risk of shutting its doors if this proposal is rejected. A major concern is the likelihood of higher ice costs, which could make participation unaffordable for many families, adult players, and skaters. Centennial has long been a place where everyone, from beginners learning to skate to competitive athletes, can come together. Losing that balance in favor of corporate control could erode the inclusivity and community spirit that make the Sportsplex special. The Nashville Youth Hockey League (NYHL) and local adult hockey programs have operated successfully for years, nurturing local talent and keeping hockey accessible. Similarly, figure skating programs at Centennial provide vital opportunities for recreation and competition that would be at risk under a monopoly-style management model. Predators have promised more and bigger tournaments, that means less ice for NYHL, NSA, GNASH (Greater Nashville Area Scholastic Hockey - High School), Sled Preds (the community) and more ice time for families outside the Nashville area. You’re going to change the Flyers/NYHL if you jack up the price at Centennial and control the ice structure! If you allow Jr. Preds to have ice at Centennial, where do you think that ice is coming from? Who’s ice do you think you’re taking away???

Keeping this simple - If you want to update your NHL practice facility - have at it. You do not have to assume management of the facility and raise prices for an organization that has been around for 61 years. You can donate the money if the practice facility is truly all you care about. If you’re looking to take over Centennial Sportsplex to generate more income for your three other failing ice facilities that you chose to build outside of Downtown Nashville; kindly kick rocks. Nobody trusts anything you say or do. Please leave the one rink alone that you haven’t run into the ground and let true Nashville hockey continue to grow outside of your control.
